Meet Frank Ocean, part of the OFWGKTA collective. He brings some smoov, indie, r&b soul to the crew – straight cool breezin’! His album, Nostalgia, Ultra, contains so many head-nods to the indie scene, like the little clip of Radiohead’s “Optimistic” in the interlude “Bitches, Talkin” and that one part where he swags the fuck out of MGMT’s Electric Feel in “Nature Feels”.
In this track, Lovecrimes, I feel a little bit of that Usher swag layered over some Kenna grooves. I’m into it. Also, if you listen closely to the background, you can hear Nicole Kidman’s sexy bedroom rant from one of my fave movies, Eyes Wide Shut.
Anyway, check him out. The juxtaposition of Frank Ocean and Tyler, the Creator keeps the OFWGKTA Movement diverse and interesting.
