Chris Kelly is a super special homie of mine who has had a particularly great year for himself!  He landed a sweet gig the US News Editor of FACT Magazine!  Ugh – thinking of all the great music he has at his disposal gets me all jelly.  Opening his email in the morning must feel like Christmas everyday!  Clearly he’s always had a keen ear for selecting the very best music, so I knew I had to ask him his opinion on the musical fruits of 2012.  Here are his top five favorite jams of 2012:

Usher – “Climax”
2012′s ‘Motivation’ — just more massive. The slow jam of the year, from a revitalized Usher and producer-of-the-year contender Diplo, who crafts one of his most subtle productions ever.

Zebra Katz ft. Njena Redd Foxx – “Ima Read”
This one came out of nowhere, didn’t it? A vogue edge, a sparse beat, and a surprisingly sinister video.

A$AP Rocky – “Goldie”
2012 came and went, and Rocky never did get around to dropping LongLiveASAP. Still, ‘Goldie’ kept Pretty Flacko in rotation thanks to some conspicuous consumption and an ear-worming Hit-Boy beat.

M.I.A. – “Bad Girls”
M.I.A. is back (at least for one song) with her most triumphant jam since ‘Paper Planes’. Here’s hoping the momentum carries onto Matangi.

Frank Ocean – “Pyramids”
A 10-minute prog-R&B epic that catapults the year’s most captivating artist across three decades of the genre and beyond. Is there anything Frank Ocean can’t do?
